Want to see some of your favorite animals this summer? Here’s where you can go to see them in their natural habitats.
It’s officially summer in the Northern Hemisphere, which means people across the world are heading off on vacation. If you’re an animal lover like us, check out some of the easy-to-visit destinations in the US where you can see animals at a safe distance in their natural habitats. Here are some of our favorites:
1. Dana Point, California
Dana Point is one of the best places to view the magnificent blue whale. It has a variety of year-round whales and more dolphins per square mile than anywhere in the world. This location was made a Whale Heritage Site in January of this year.
2. Yosemite National Park, California
Yosemite is one of the national parks in the Western US in which you can see black bears. The park is also known for its waterfalls, meadows, and giant trees.
3. Everglades National Park, Florida
This 1.5-million-acre wetland park is home to alligators that you can see from a safe distance.
4. Yellowstone National Park, Montana
Check out one of North America’s great mammals, the bison, at this national park.
5. San Juan Islands, Washington
Spot orca whales here year-round on any number of whale-watching tours. Sea lions, blue whales, and many other sea creatures call this beautiful place home, too.
When you’re traveling, do your research before visiting any wildlife sites. Make sure the wildlife you see is not handled by a human and are living in their natural habitat. HAGS!
