Our supporters ran to raise money for animals around the world.
On Sunday, March 19, 2017, Team World Animal Protection joined the 2017 United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on a 13.1-mile tour of Manhattan.
It was a cold, windy morning, but our ten team members gamely braved the temperatures – and together they raised nearly $11,000 to help suffering animals.
“I wanted to raise money for World Animal Protection,” explained Britt Breidenbach, “because being able to make a difference for animals all over the world is something I feel really passionate about, and you don’t always get a chance to do that.”
Fellow runner Rafael Talavera agreed. “It is heartbreaking to see how animals are being abused all over the world, but encouraging that an organization like World Animal Protection is giving all animals a voice.”
During the race, Rafael sought inspiration from his father. “Running the race and the struggle to finish was nothing compared to the 50+ years he worked every day.”
“People throughout the whole race cheer you on along the way,” Britt added. “It was pretty awesome when people saw my shirt and specifically yelled for Team World Animal Protection.”
We couldn’t be more proud of our runners and the work they do for animals. Congratulations to Britt, Rafael, Libby Martin, Richard Camacho, Allison Stethers, Gabriele Macciotta, Kate Black-Will, Salvador Ciranna, Jenny Baker, and returning Team World Animal Protection member Nick Pegg for such an amazing race!
