Every year thousands of tourists dream of a once-in-a-lifetime experience – seeing a tiger in the wild. Unfortunately, some attractions have taken advantage of this dream and turned it into a nightmare for tigers. Yet people are largely unaware of the cruelty that the world’s largest wild cats suffer behind the scenes.
Tigers are often found chained up, sharing barren cages, and forced to lie out in direct sunshine, making them lethargic enough to appear at ease with a tourist presence. We have also found evidence of some parks removing their teeth and claws – an extremely painful process that can cause arthritis and other lifelong health issues.
Moving animal-lovers to think before they book
Global research has shown that 50% of people who pay for a wild animal experience do so because they love animals.
But we know that if these animal lovers were aware of the abuse that takes place at tiger-themed tourist attractions and parks, they would never take part.
