Chipotle shows commitment to farm animal welfare

News

We applaud Chipotle for taking immediate action after recently finding out one of their suppliers was violating their animal welfare policies.

The leading restaurant chain requires pigs to be "raised with access to the outdoors or in deeply bedded barns, and without the use of antibiotics." However, when Chipotle discovered that this wasn’t the case during a routine supply chain audit, they made the decision to pull pork from their menu.

Kara Mergl, our Manager of Corporate Engagement had this to say about Chipotle’s decision, “We applaud Chipotle for taking swift action to remove conventionally raised pork from its supply chain after discovering animal-welfare violations by a supplier. Only with regular and proactive audits can restaurants ensure that their products are sourced responsibly and humanely. Chipotle’s example of transparency in farming is one that all food businesses should follow.”

Let’s show Chipotle that we support their quick action to protect animals by saying #ThankYouChipotle on Facebook and Twitter
